Red Kite Teacher Training is one of the largest school-based providers of teacher training in North and West Yorkshire, with a partner network featuring urban and inner-city schools in places such as Harrogate, Bradford and Leeds, as well as schools in more rural parts of Yorkshire. You want to be in, but your course will try to place you in schools you can commute to. You’ll be placed in different schools during your training. You’ll spend time learning how to teach Biology and Chemistry to Key Stage 3, broadening your skill set to be able to teach secondary Science. Conferences, tutorials and mini-placements focussed on Barriers to Learning, Special Educational Needs, Adult Mental Health, Behaviour, English as an Additional Language and Employment.ĭuring your training, you’ll work in schools with exceptional teachers to develop your subject knowledge in everything from temperature and changes of state to electricity, forces and magnetism. The ‘With SEND’ courses, developed in partnership with the Yorkshire Inclusive Alliance, include the same comprehensive, multi-level Red Kite training approach consisting of: You’ll still learn how to understand, plan and deliver the Physics Curriculum for 11-16 year olds, and gain Post 16 experience. If you choose a ‘With SEND’ course, your first placement will be in a secondary school and your second placement will be in a special school and will involve some additional SEND training from Special Needs Co-ordinators and experts from within the Red Kite training family. Red Kite’s ‘With SEND’ training has all the same features and benefits of a standard Red Kite course, but you’ll qualify with additional specialist skills in teaching pupils who experience significant difficulties in learning.
